25 years ago Alavida decided to film its own history with a clear script: Another education is possible.
Alavida was born when this kind of projects hardy existed in Spain. It was inspired by the experience of Mauricio and Rebeca Wild and drew on strong influence from professionals such as Montessori, Pikler or Carl Rogers. Since 2001, Alavida has been redefining education. More than just a school, we are a place to grow in every sense.
Throughout these years, Alavida has not only supported many children and families, but it has also served as an inspiration for many of Spain’s current schools and active education projects. Its founders, Beatriz Aguilera y Tinus Wijnakker, have trained numerous educators and have contributed to pave the way for a more respectful view of childhood.
On our 25th anniversary, Alavida is proud to share all the knowledge acquired throughout our journey. Join us in reflecting and embracing a child-centered, respectful, and humanistic approach to education.
Our goal is to make a documentary with social impact, transforming our experience into a powerful tool for community awareness, which captures what respectful parenting and an education approach based on freedom, self-directed hands-on learning and secure bonding truly entail. We want to highlight how a thoughtfully prepared, nature-connected and genuinely child-centered environment can foster a deep emotional, social, and intellectual growth.
Now more than ever, we believe in the importance of sharing authentic educational experiences which open up new perspectives and prompt reflection on better support for children. That's why our dream is to create a documentary that helps people reimagine and build more human, mindful and respectful approach to education, truly child-centered.
Main features and goals of the crowdfunding campaign
This documentary is aimed to be a tool for inspiration, reflection and transformation for the educational community. It is an ideal resource for education faculties, teacher training centers, and schools, fostering reflection on innovative methodologies.
Our project is also tailored to families who want to be actively involved in their children's education and grow alongside them. Families who believe that innate curiosity can last a lifetime if nurtured and cultivated with love and dedication. Families who believe that respect is not about compliance with rules, but about understanding and honoring the deep needs of each child. We believe that consistency and role modeling are built on what we do, not just what we say. Parents who view setbacks and difficulties as learning opportunities. They want to walk alongside their children as they find their own way, free from the weight of their parents' dreams, frustrations, and unmet needs.
This is for all educators and caregivers wishing to reflect on their teaching approach. It is for adults motivated to support children fostering their autonomy, empathy, decision-making, and responsibility — empowering them to develop their own potential and follow their deepest dreams.
In our quest to innovate education, we aim to bring this documentary to key learning spaces. We are now immersed in this campaign, an essential step to make it possible. Why this is important
In 2026, Alavida turns 25! We want to show the world that a different kind of education is possible — one that protects, nurtures, and embraces the incredible potential of childhood.
This documentary is born to spark a profound conversation about childhood. Rather than a mere overview, we want this material to be a driving force that inspires the educational community, opening horizons to new ways of supporting childhood that are always deeply rooted in the real needs of every child.
Our goal is this recording to reach universities, teacher training centers, and schools, becoming a resource for debate and training, encouraging other educators and communities to transform their own environments.
We are thrilled to share this deeply valuable content with families, the educational community, and society as a whole. It represents a cornerstone for spreading our mission and ensuring the long-term continuity of our center.

At Alavida, we believe in one core truth: childhood should be a wonderful journey, and learning, a constant source of joy and vitality. With this conviction, we have spent 25 years providing an educational environment for children aged three to twelve, where curiosity, creativity, and respect are nurtured, and where children’s interests guide their own learning. An environment where they feel deeply loved and accepted, and where they can reach their full potential. Learning thus becomes pleasant and stimulating.
Alavida educational path is a dream realized, whose solidity and innovation have made it a true benchmark in the field.
This documentary stems from a proven, hands-on educational experience designed to motivate other schools, families, and professionals in the field.
Our previous experience working with Movinglifefilms at different times in our history has been fantastic. Dedicated to a life of art, painting, and audiovisual creation, Boris Franco bring a distinct visual sensitivity to all his work. Movinglifefilms has empowered conscious businesses to share their story, connect authentically, and make an emotional impact.
When we trusted Boris with our dream, this is what he had to say:

That is the beauty, but also the uncertainty of life. The challenge is to embrace life itself within Alavida, and to discover, in the daily flow of children and educators, those treasures we seek. I have to navigate—with all the respect and patience I can muster—the curiosity of children staring at the stranger with a camera, the heartbreaking brevity of magical moments, and the fear of missing what’s happening over there because I’m focused right here. But above all, I struggle with time, because it never seems to be enough.However, my passion is huge, and I am committed to putting all my resources into making this documentary live up to Alavida, inviting reflection and touching the heart."
His vision resonates with our documentary's social commitment: not just to show a school, but to share a way of understanding childhood and education. We are turning our personal learning into a community outreach tool, consciously transforming our history into a shared experience and collective reflection.
That is why we have chosen him as our partner once again. We believe this existing trust between the school and the production company is a great strength for the project, as it allows us to build on mutual understanding and a shared vision that has already proven to work very well.
OUR TEAM
Our team is made up of Boris Franco and a Movinglifefilms assistant, on the one hand, and, on the other, of Alavida team, currently composed by 15 people: four of us work with children aged 3 to 6, four with the 6 to 9 age group, and three with the 9 to 12 group. Two additional members handle the management and coordination of the center.
Furthermore, at Alavida we have always relied on the support and dedication of parents in all kind of tasks. The success of this documentary would be a true reflection of the fantastic coordination between the perspectives of Movinglifefilms and Alavida team, fueled by the generous, firm and enthusiastic commitment of this educational community.
